It started with this pin:
I loved it. So smart. And deep. And thought provoking. You know what I wasn't loving at the time? Our tired writing stations. I loved the quotes so much that they became a new writing response station. I made these posters:

I love the responding to a quote idea! This may find its way into my plans as we continue reading The Lorax tomorrow!

Wow! These are great. I can't wait to use these with my kiddos. Dr. Seuss is so often overlooked in the upper grades, too. Thank you for sharing!

These are awesome, Megan. I wish that I hadn't fallen asleep standing up every night this week, or I would have pulled this together for today!
ReplyDeleteThe posters are awesome. i was thinking about what I would use for a prompt on our Reading Blog this week I think I've found it. Thanks for sharing. Another upper grade Seuss activity I've done is have my kids "Seuss" their independent reading book, AKA rewrite a scene from their story is Seuss-like prose. It's a challenge and it takes LOTS of modeling but they come up with some wonderful stuff. ~Stacy @ http://new-in-room-202.blogspot.com
